Fleetwood Town 2-0 Bury

Antoni Sarcevic
Antoni Sarcevic provided two assists in his side's 2-0 victory over Bury.

Fleetwood beat Bury to give their League One survival hopes a boost.

In a lively first half, both sides had chances to break the deadlock with Bury skipper Nathan Pond hitting the bar and Fleetwood defender Dionotan Teixeira seeing his close-range effort blocked.

Antoni Sarcevic was the provider for Ash Hunter in the second half, who slotted low past Daniel Bachmann.

Bury looked for an equaliser, but Fleetwood struck again when Bobby Grant latched onto Sarcevic's fizzing cross.

The home side move up into 19th place, one point above the relegation zone, while Bury fall to 14th in the League One table.

Bury manager David Flitcroft told BBC Radio Manchester:

Flitcroft on Fleetwood v Bury

"I spoke to them (the players) in the dressing room and asked the younger players how they felt on the impact of that first goal - some of the younger players just felt as though it's a moment that sucks that confidence and energy out of you.

"Second half, we got into the game and started to move the ball better.

"We've got to individually and as a unit, defend that ball better."
