Swindon Town to make managerial decision in next few days

Swindon Town chairman Lee Power says they will make a decision on who will replace Martin Ling as manager of the League One club in the next few days.

Ling resigned on Wednesday because of "the stresses of the job".

Coach Luke Williams will take charge for the game at Port Vale on Saturday.

"They're happy to take the team on Saturday and then we'll have conversations next week about what we're going to do until the end of the season," Power told BBC Wiltshire.

And when asked if Williams being in charge of the side could carry on for longer than the next game Power replied: "It is a big possibility.

"Because it's happened so quick we're just focused on getting the lads ready for Saturday's game."

Power, who played for Norwich City, Bradford City, Peterborough United and Plymouth Argyle, took full control of Swindon in December 2013, and managed the side for three matches after the sacking of Mark Cooper in October.

"It's a different scenario this time to when I took charge of the team," said Power.

"That was due to the fact there was a lot of injuries and uncertainty and I came in to take it on the chin as results were poor at the time.

"We've been on a decent run, there's a pool of players available to be picked.

"I had the conversation with Luke and he's happy now, as Ross (Embleton) is here as well, so it's not like he's doing it on his own."
