Huddersfield Town 2-2 Reading

Nahki Wells' last-minute penalty for Huddersfield took their FA Cup third-round tie with Reading to a replay.

Jamie Paterson headed Huddersfield in front before Wells was booked for a dive in the penalty area.

Matej Vydra equalised when his curling shot was deflected in, and Hal Robson-Kanu scored to complete the turnaround.

But Harry Bunn was adjudged to have been fouled in the box in stoppage time, despite claims it was outside the area, and Wells scored from the spot.

Huddersfield had the better of a goalless first half and deservedly went ahead through Paterson's header after the break.

But the game turned when Wells was shown a yellow card after going down under a challenge from Al-Habsi in the area - despite many fans calling for a foul as he looked to be through on goal, one of a number of debatable decisions during the match.

Three minutes later Wells felt he had been fouled again by Daniel Williams, but the referee allowed play to continue, and Town then lost possession before Vydra's deflected effort on the break looped over goalkeeper Joe Murphy.

Reading could have had a spot-kick of their own nine minutes from full-time as Vydra appeared to be pushed in the box, but Robson-Kanu did put them in front when he latched on to Lucas Piazon's pass.

However, Huddersfield earned a replay after Bunn went down and Wells drove the spot-kick past Al-Habsi.

Huddersfield Town manager David Wagner: "I have to be very careful in what I say, in England, if I like to keep the money in my pocket.

"First of all, I worry about that when we get such a great game, especially for my team, the first question is about the referee. This shows us something was wrong in this game.

"From my position, it was a penalty (the challenge on Wells). But the referee was much nearer to the situation than I was. We have to accept the decision he did in this moment.

"I'm very satisfied with the performance of the squad. We did very well. We were good with the reactive pressure, we dominated the game, created chances, and had speed in our game."

Reading manager Brian McDermott: "The referee's had an interesting game. To be fair, he's got it right with Ali (Al-Habsi), and he's got it right with their penalty at the end. It's a penalty in my opinion.

"Having looked at the game and how it went, you have to take the draw.

"We're trying to find the right way for us. I'm pleased we've got a result after being 1-0 down."
