Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough has said he would like to sign up to four players to boost his side's push for promotion from League One.
The Brewers are currently top of the table and three points clear of third-placed Walsall.
Winger Mark Duffy, 30, extended his loan deal from Birmingham City until the end of the season on Wednesday.
"I think we'd like a new player in each position to freshen us up," Clough told BBC Radio Derby.
"In an ideal world I think three loans, and maybe two or three going out, would give us nice balance. A few new faces won't do any harm at this stage."
Meanwhile, Clough, who returned to Derby last month following Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink's move to QPR, is pleased to have extended Duffy's stay at the club.
The former Scunthorpe and Doncaster man has featured in all of the club's league games this season, scoring four goals in 24 games.
"We were desperate for him to stay and he wanted to stay," Clough added. "This is the best place for him."
