Juventus claimed a ninth successive Serie A victory to move within two points of leaders Napoli.

Paul Pogba and Sami Khedira scored as Juventus climbed to second place, above Inter Milan on goal difference.

Former Manchester United trainee Pogba put them ahead in the 17th minute and Germany international Khedira scored a minute after half-time.

Antonio Cassano netted on 64 minutes for Sampdoria, who had Niklas Moisander sent off in stoppage time.

It means Juventus's only defeat since October has come in the Champions League, where they lost 1-0 to Sevilla in Spain on 8 December and they remain on the shoulder of Napoli, who beat Frosinone 5-1.

They led through Pogba, who netted a superb shot on the turn after taking the ball on his chest.

Khedira seized on a pass by Paulo Dybala and finished well to double the lead but Cassano gave the home side hope with a goal from the edge of the 18-yard box.

Moisander was dismissed in the fourth minute of stoppage time for a rash challenge on Simone Zaza.
