Dover Athletic 1-2 Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham striker Danny Wright
Cheltenham striker Danny Wright's Crabble double took his tally to 12 goals for the season

Danny Wright earned a dramatic victory at fellow promotion challengers Dover to take Cheltenham Town back to the top of the National League with two late goals inside a minute.

Nicky Deverdics' superb, swerving left-foot strike from 25 yards looked to have won it for Dover on 83 minutes.

But Wright scored from a penalty after Aswad Thomas had been adjudged to have fouled Robins substitute James Dayton.

Dayton then turned supplier to set up Wright's tap-in just 55 seconds later.

Still stunned by Cheltenham's 88th-minute equaliser, Dover keeper Andy Rafferty got his fingertips to divert Dayton's low right-wing cross, but it fell for Wright at the far post to turn into an empty net from just two yards.

Cheltenham go back two points clear the top from Forest Green, 1-0 winners over Braintree the previous day.

Dover remain fifth, in the last of the four play-off places, now 14 points behind the leaders and just a point clear of nearest challengers Woking.

In an exciting end to an otherwise dull game, Ricky Modeste almost sparked a breakthrough when his low, angled shot was saved by on-loan Charlton keeper Dillon's with legs before ballooning just wide.

Dover midfielder Deverdics then broke the deadlock with his stunning 11th National League goal of the season, only for Cheltenham to pull off a remarkable turnaround.
