Cambridge United striker Barry Corr has undergone knee surgery and will be out for the rest of the season.
The 30-year-old, who joined the U's on a two-year contract from Southend in the summer, has scored 12 goals in 24 matches this campaign.
Corr has been struggling with the problem for much of the season.
Boss Shaun Derry said before the announcement: "Unfortunately I've not seen a fit Barry Corr since I've been at the club."
Derry, who has been in charge since November, continued to BBC Radio Cambridgeshire: "He's scored goals and he's a big player for us, but we're rolling him out at the moment and it's not fair.
"When Barry doesn't play we miss him, but we've signed Ben Williamson on a permanent deal which is a massive benefit for us."
Corr has failed to score in his last four matches, a run in which the U's lost two and drew two of their games.
