Jobi McAnuff's excellent goal gave Leyton Orient victory at Portsmouth.
The former West Ham and Watford midfielder blasted in from 25 yards to move Orient into the League Two play-off places, leapfrogging Pompey.
Orient could have scored more, but Jay Simpson fired over from four yards out while Armand Gnanduillet's late volley was saved well by Ryan Fulton.
Conor Chaplin headed Portsmouth's best chance over late into the game as Orient ran out deserved winners.
Leyton Orient player-manager Kevin Nolan told BBC Radio London:
"I think today you've seen a different team. We've done exactly what was asked of us today and I'm delighted.
"We need a mentality where we're all in it together because I'm going to need that squad throughout this season.
"I'm under no illusions that they're all going to be needed and they're all going to play a big part hopefully in getting this club up."
