Shaquille McDonald scored an injury-time winner against Southport as Halifax moved out of the National League relegation places.

The 20-year-old forward, on loan from Derby, volleyed in a loose ball left-footed in a late scramble in the box.

Despite Southport enjoying most of the early possession, the visitors created the better chances with Hamza Bencherif's shot went wide.

Hosts keeper Max Crocombe denied Nicky Wroe but Halifax clinched victory.
