Braintree Town: Simeon Akinola lauds team's 'togetherness'

Braintree Town striker Simeon Akinola says the club's current league position is "unbelievable" as they look to clinch a place in the play-offs.

The Iron are fourth in the National League table following a 2-0 win over Eastleigh, in which 23-year-old Akinola scored both goals.

"It's unbelievable for us to be fourth in a league of mostly full-time teams.

"The togetherness is good and we think we can do something special this season," he told BBC Essex.

Braintree are four points clear of sixth-placed Wrexham and have two games in hand on the Welsh club.

Akinola is in his second season at Cressing Road and has six goals so far this term.

"Look at what Alan Devonshire left, because the squad hasn't changed that much," he added.

"He deserves some credit, but look at what Danny and Nicky [Cowley] have brought to the table."
