Antoine Griezmann scored his 23rd goal of the season as Atletico Madrid beat struggling Deportivo La Coruna 3-0 to move back within eight points of La Liga leaders Barcelona.

Barca stretched their lead with a 6-0 victory over Getafe earlier in the day but a fourth successive league win saw Diego Simeone's side narrow the gap.

Saul Niguez headed Atletico in front before top-scorer Griezmann made it 2-0 with an angled shot after an hour.

Angel Correa slotted a late third goal.

Atletico, second in La Liga, host PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Tuesday night with their last-16 tie level at 0-0 following the first leg in the Netherlands.

Their preparation could not have gone better as they kept a 27th clean sheet of the season in all competitions as 13th-placed Deportivo's winless La Liga run was extended to 13 games.
