Harry Davis: Crewe defender trying to relish League One relegation battle

Fit-again defender Harry Davis says he is doing his best to enjoy the challenge of trying to keep Crewe Alexandra in League One.

After seven months out with a knee injury, Davis, 24, is back in the thick of the action with the Alex 23rd in the table, seven points from safety.

"Everyone's relishing the challenge in the dressing room," Davis said.

"We haven't been good enough in the first 15 minutes of games and that has to change."

The Railwaymen, with one win in their last 16 matches, face a crucial test on Saturday when they take on fellow strugglers Blackpool, who are one place and five points better off.

Davis delighted to be playing again

And Davis, who has experienced two relegation fights in his near seven-year career at Gresty Road, will use every bit of his know-how in the current battle.

"I know what's required - it's all about sticking together," Davis told BBC Radio Stoke.

"It's about helping the young lads and passing on some knowledge and feedback.

"Draws are no good - they're like a defeat for us in this situation. We need wins at this stage of the season.

"Blackpool is a must-not-lose-or-draw game - if we lose we're in a really tough situation."
