Africa could host a Premier League friendly tournament, says the league's executive chairman Richard Scudamore.
A biennial four-team pre-season event, the Premier League Asia Trophy, has been held in Asia since 2003.
Scudamore envisages a similar event being staged on the African continent.
"Maybe we will bring one of our international tournaments [to Africa]. We have one in Asia and probably at some point, Africa and America will have to feature, " he told BBC Sport.
Scudamore was speaking at a live event held by the Premier League in Cape Town, South Africa, on 19 and 20 March.
Fans were given the chance to meet former players, including Robbie Fowler of Liverpool and Peter Schmeichel, the legendary Manchester United goalkeeper, and Premier League matches were shown live on a giant screen.
"These events are like a theme park for Premier League fans," said Scudamore. "They are good because people can come and touch and feel and be part of something - we will do more and more of these fan events."
Former South Africa and Manchester United forward Quinton Fortune, and ex-South Africa and Leeds defender Lucas Radebe were also in attendance.
