On-loan full-back Callum Crane had been dismissed for two yellow cards for the visitors four minutes earlier.
Kane Hester scored the opener for the hosts after 69 minutes, with Steven Notman replying.
McKenna then popped up with the winner for the depleted Borderers, who have lost just one of their previous 10 contests.
