Women's Super League One: Liverpool Ladies 2-2 Sunderland Ladies

Sunderland Ladies
Sunderland Ladies were looking to bounce back after their 7-0 cup loss at Arsenal Ladies

Liverpool and Sunderland Ladies both maintained their unbeaten starts in Women's Super League One as the Lady Black Cats fought back to draw.

Hosts Liverpool had led 2-0 through Caroline Weir and Laura Coombs' goals.

Brooke Chaplen's strikes either side of half-time saw the visitors draw level.

Late on, Liverpool pushed for a victory that would have sent them level with leaders Chelsea Ladies, but they remain third with four points from two games, while winless Sunderland stay fifth.

Chaplen had a chance in the final minute to complete a hat-trick and a remarkable turnaround but her free-kick from the edge of the area went over the bar.

Striker Beth Mead had earlier been denied by a fine save from Liverpool goalkeeper Siobhan Chamberlain, tipping her volley over.
