MK Dons: Karl Robinson 'cannot condone' fan intrusion at Sheffield Wednesday

Karl Robinson's side are nine points from safety with three matches to go

MK Dons manager Karl Robinson says he went into the crowd during the 0-0 draw at Sheffield Wednesday because one of his players was pushed in the neck.

In a heated match, the incident happened shortly after Ross Wallace was for sent off for the hosts.

"When one of my players gets pushed in his neck when he's sat there, I'll never condone that," said Robinson.

"I stepped into the crowd. I said to them 'don't you ever touch my players'. It's my job to protect my players."

He continued to BBC Three Counties Radio: "I'm not going to criticise anybody at Sheffield Wednesday, but when you're in the dugout, you're asking for your players to be protected."

Robinson added he felt challenges on Alex Revell and Josh Murphy should have resulted in red cards for Wednesday players, and that Owls forward Fernando Forestieri should not have been shown a yellow card for diving.

The Dons, who gave third-choice goalkeeper Charlie Burns his first start, are now nine points from safety with three games left to play after the point against the play-off hopefuls.

"We took some criticism throughout this season, rightly so in certain areas, but I don't think anybody can say we can get any more out of this group of players," said Robinson.

"We finished the game with our number three in goal, one fit midfielder, our right winger out for the season, our right-back out. We are down to the bare bones, fighting in one of the greatest leagues in the world.

"It's not over. If we can get it down to the last two games, you just don't know what may happen.

"We're used to chasing down other teams, but we've certainly restored some sort of pride in the shirt in the last two matches."
