Morecambe goalkeeper Barry Roche has claimed they are too nice and have crumbled in their recent matches.
The Shrimps have lost six of their last eight games in League Two and have plummeted down the table to 21st.
Manager Jim Bentley took responsibility for their 5-2 loss at Hartlepool earlier this month, with the poor form coinciding with chairman Peter McGuigan putting the club up for sale.
Asked if Morecambe are too nice, Roche told BBC Radio Lancashire "Yes, 100%."
The 34-year-old added: "We're a very good side when things go for us. When things don't go for us we crumble.
"How many times this season have we conceded one and then shortly after conceded two? It's not good enough."
Bentley's side have conceded 18 goals in their past four matches and 89 goals over the season so far.
"We can only apologise," added the Irish keeper. "The performances and results, especially of late, have been dreadful.
"Unfortunately as a team I don't think it hurts us enough - we've been a real soft touch."
