Michael Appleton: Oxford United boss urges focus in League Two finale

Michael Appleton has already led Oxford to a Wembley final this season, losing to Barnsley in the Football League Trophy

Oxford United manager Michael Appleton says his side must resist temptation to try something different in their quest for automatic promotion to League One.

A win for Appleton's side in their final game at home to Wycombe on Saturday will guarantee promotion.

"We've just got to keep calm and stay focused," he told BBC Radio Oxford. "There's no point changing now."

If Oxford fail to win at a sold out Kassam Stadium, they must match fourth-placed Bristol Rovers' result.

Rovers are a point behind Oxford and host already-relegated Dagenham & Redbridge.

"We just need to make sure we don't do anything different than we have for the previous 45 games," Appleton added.

"We've done ever so well to get into the position we have. We've just got to make sure we're ruthless in both boxes and clinical in getting that second goal when we're on top."
