National League side Gateshead have signed former Carlisle midfielder Antony Sweeney on a one-year deal.
The 32-year-old was released by the Cumbrians at the end of the season after making 58 appearances over two years with the League Two side.
He previously played 444 times for Hartlepool United and becomes Heed boss Neil Aspin's sixth summer signing.
"I'm very pleased to have him here. His experience will be invaluable for us next year," said Aspin.
"He was just starting his career when I was finishing mine at Hartlepool. I've kept an eye on him since then, and he's had a good record."
