Jernarta Meen this article is about international football. Why you need to mention Spurs just shows what a sad person you are.
@431 Strachan plays some absolutely dismal players.....The boy Brown in the middle is not a professional, there are guys in the english conference better than him....Scotland were decent a few years back under Walter Smith & Alex Mccleish.
@430 - Scotland are awful just now because their players are awful. They have been awful for a long time, blame Strachan if you like but Bertie Vogts et al are not magicians. Agree they were good in the 70s
@428 Scotland actually had a fantastic team in the 70's, when scottish football was at its high.England & the other nations dont come into context when talking about greatest national sides, as apart from 66 they are all rotten !!!England play decent teams and lose, play average sides and win.ROI, Wales, and NI all better in recent yearsScotland are awful just now, because of strachan
Looks like Salford University are using the same “super computers” Fifa use for their rankings. You can’t include teams like Argentina 2010 and Brazil 2013 over teams that actually won something, the latter is laughable especially considering their World Cup performance the following year.
The Spain squads from 08 & 12 were good, to have 9 &10 players in the best 23 squad of the tournaments takes some doing.426. Posted by mattstheman Answer - Because the article is about decent football teams, not minnows.
The best International Teams - West Germany 1974 - 1980Spain 2008 - 2012. Both teams won mutliple Euro Championships and the World Cup, and their players also dominated in largely the same tesm (Bayern and Barca respectively) in the same era at Club Football level at the same time. Done.
and just in case we've forgotten its the EBC they mention England 1966. What about Wales, N. Ireland and Scotland?
The Hungary side of the 1950s and its drubbings of England and Scotland on their home turf radically changed football here. Out with the big boots, the whack it up the field style and the training which involved simply running up and down the terraces . In came the accent on passing, practising ball skills and disciplined defence. Unfortunately the side didn't develop for political reasons - sad
419WoofwoofShepherd should have had a straight red in the first half for his challenge on DavidsCarragher should have been booked for kicking the ball away just before Berbatov penalty meaning he would have been sent off later for a second bookingDisgusting refereeing from the English refs.Hope Shepherd is not invited back, clearly a dirty player who is frustrated he didn't cut if as a kid
Even though its probably the Panza Division - for me the Total Footballing Dutch side of 1974 (even though the got beat by the Panzas) was revolutionary good footy
@421 King Ledley"Gotta be the poorest team in the Euros"... your forgetting Northern Ireland are in the Euro's....France 1998-2000 were top qualityZidaneHenryVieraPetitPiresThauramBlancTrezeguetjust imagine if those players were English the hype would be insane and they would flop under the pressure
did anybody else hear the sound of the balloon bursting in Wales following their latest uninspiring performance?! Coleman talking like billy big balls the other week, making out that with Jaja Binks in the squad they are contenders....Gotta be the poorest team in the Euros...
