It is the managers and pundits who bring up the tiredness excuse not the players so why a lot of poster are going on about the players is beyond me.This just the media and especially the BBC trying undermine the England team with negative reporting instead of fair reportingWhere is the HYS on Wales losing 3 0 to Sweden or is there not enough negative mileage in it for the BBC
Again, just make Haart captain, ergo the ability to pick your best side. Then all this goes away and we have a chance. I'm not even really a Haart fan but that's not the point, he always has been copper bottomed starter for this tournament. How can Roy make such an error? How can anyone put down arrow to this blatantly obviously fact? Let's see how many people truly understand real decision making
If Jamie Vardy joins Arsenal he is a prize plank.
Drop one of the cup competitions if games played is a problem. But in general, the only extra adverse effect which English football might suffer from is bad winter weather. Is there any study of that? However, whatever the circumstances, England national team has been seriously over-rewarded and under-performing for nearly 50 years. Even random statistics should have yielded better results,
Agreed with Smalling's comments there. It really is not an excuse. I think it's the mentality; the team have never perform as they should in the tournament. What they need is good coaching.
Tired & exhausted - the poor poor things !!Tired coz they lay awake all night pondering on which model Ferrari to buy next .... or should I go for the Lamborghini ???In my work, if I performed how these muppets perform - I'd be out of a job before the end of the week !
Surprised that the article didn't comment on that other great English excuse , ie, " There are too many foreign players playing in the Premier" . I would have been very interested to see how this compared with other top Euro leagues. I think the results could have been surprising. I know for example if you look at PSG or Barca you won't find that many French or Spaniards .
So lots of guff but no conclusion? Quite the waste of time and money, wouldn't you say? A winter break is a winter break - the Prem should have one and we're at a disadvantage not having one. Trying to justify not having one with injury time off and the FA Cup, blah. blah, is just clutching at straws.
Psychologically our players in general are ill prepared. Most of our top players arrive at the top after spending their teenage years being cosseted from the character building realities of everyday life we mortals experience. I suspect a more relevant and meaningful comparison across european leagues, would be to measure IQ's and bi-linugal capabilities of differing playing nationalities.
Good to see this one debunked, although I expect we will still hear it from at least one TV commentator or pundit during the tournament. Please debunk the "too many overseas players in the Premier League" excuse next. Should be quite easy.
a. Premier League - Sky/BT Tells the clubs when to play their League Fixures. b. La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A: The clubs negotiate with broadcaster after playing 90 mins of mid-week Wed/Thurs night football in Europe. Tiredness is definitely a valid point, the players have come out and already said this. Look at the statistics. Are you posting under a different name Phil ?
I work 55 hours a week and still go to the gym for 3 hours a day - I can't go into the boss and say "sorry I didn't do my work properly today, I'm feeling a bit tired" and I don't get paid 250k a week. The reason they fail is because they are overpaid prima donnas who lead cushy lives and throw tantrums if they don't get treated like little tin gods. Waste of space the lot of them.
"tired" They run around a field for 90 minutes a week!Get paid millions to keep fit! "tired"?
Well its been an excuse up to now so? At the end of the day, no one is falling for the BS the press feed us this time.
Tiredness has never been and never will be a valid excuse. These are people at the peak of physical fitness, who only train for a very limited amount of time during the week and then play one or perhaps 2 matches a week as a general maximum. Compare that with people who labour for 40+ hours a week and also do the work at home and you easily see that players who do complain are just weak indivduals
England are a pretty good side just not quite on the same level as the very best.If we want to be up there it does require a Long term plan and long term funding, I don't see this happening whilst the FA has no control over the most lucrative league. The BPL doesn't have any reason to care whether England does well or not, other than total humiliation not being a good advert for tv rights
@DrHurt - why wouldn't you pick Vardy?? He is the 2nd highest goal scorer in a league full of world class strikers like Costa/Aguero. Maybe your comment got downvoted because thats sometimes the problem with the England selection policy - picking players based on reputation rather than form. Who cares if he never has another good season? if he scores 8 goals in the euros then we stand a chance!
