Bristol Rovers have agreed a new contract with Colombian forward Cristian Montano.

Rovers have not disclosed the length of the deal for Montano, who joined the club last year from América de Cali.

The 24-year-old was sacked by Oldham in December 2013 after being arrested over allegations of spot-fixing, but the case was dropped in January 2015.

Having started his career at West Ham he had five loans at four different clubs before joining Oldham in 2012.

"I'm delighted to have re-signed for the club, Rovers gave me the opportunity to return home from Columbia and all the boys made me instantly welcome and I thank them all for that," Montano told the club website.

"The gaffer gave me my opportunity after Christmas, and I really appreciate his faith. I did my very best to take it and play my part in the promotion push which ended fantastically in that final day at the Memorial Stadium."

Montano is the eighth player from the side which won promotion to League One last month to agree a new contract with the club.
