Portsmouth manager Paul Cook says the door has not been closed on midfielder Danny Hollands.

The 30-year-old, who is recovering from an injury sustained at the end of last season, is the only remaining out-of-contract player at Fratton Park.

"I'm still hopeful," Cook told BBC Radio Solent. "Talks are ongoing, let's see where it goes, but Danny is someone we're still speaking to."

Hollands played 39 games in all competitions for Pompey last season.

The former Charlton player suffered an ankle ligament injury in Portsmouth's League Two play-off semi-final defeat by Plymouth.

"Unfortunately, we can't agree at the moment (on a deal) but that's football," Cook added. "Danny has been exceptional for this club. He's what I call a proper footballer.

"Both parties are entitled to come from whatever angle they're coming from. My stance will obviously be towards the club."
