BBC Sport - Anthony Grant: Port Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite unhappy with bids for midfielder

Grant bids 'wouldn't fuel my car'

Port Vale chairman Norman Smurthwaite tells BBC Radio Stoke he has rejected a number of bids for unsettled midfielder Anthony Grant.

The League One club's player of the year submitted a written transfer halfway through a two-year contract, with Smurthwaite insisting the player will only be allowed to leave if his "true value" is met.

Smurthwaite called one bid from former manager Rob Page at Northampton "pathetic", adding that all of the offers "wouldn't even fuel my car for a year."
