Former Football League chairman Greg Clarke has been nominated to succeed Greg Dyke as FA chairman.

Clarke, the former Leicester chairman, was Football League chairman from March 2010 until standing down last month.

The FA Nominations Committee, including David Gill, chose him to succeed Dyke, who did not seek re-election when his three-year term ended last month.

It was approved by the board and the FA Council will be asked to endorse it at a special meeting on 24 August.
