Guernsey FC's manager Tony Vance has challenged striker Marc McGrath to force his way into the side.
The 30-year-old came off the bench to score his 50th goal for the club in their 4-1 win over Walton Casuals.
"He wants to be starting, he wants to be playing and he wants to make an impact on this team," Vance said.
"At the moment the team are doing well and he's got to try and get in, so Steve Sharman (Guernsey coach) has challenged him to make us pick him."
McGrath has yet to begin a league game for Guernsey FC this season, with his only start coming in the FA Cup replay at Thamesmead Town last month.
But he has been a substitute in the last two games, both of which Guernsey have won after a difficult start to the season.
"When he's come on he's done really well," Vance added.
"If he can do that for three or four games in a row, we've got some serious selection problems."
