Guernsey FC striker Kyle Smith has the chance to become a great player for the club, according to boss Tony Vance.

The forward, 19, came off the bench for his fourth appearance of the season in the 2-0 FA Trophy loss at South Park.

Vance is looking for a new focal point up front with the record goalscorer Ross Allen about to take time out.

"Ross going away is a concern, but if we can keep Kyle fit, keep him within the group, he'll be one tremendous asset for us," Vance told BBC Guernsey.

Smith made his debut as a 16-year-old in August 2013 and has gone on to make 20 appearances for the club, although he has yet to hit the back of the net.

"He could take that position by storm," added Vance.

"People will be suggesting that we weren't missing Ross, and that's some pressure to put on the young lad's shoulders, but he's got that capability and I think you saw that in flashes."
