Goals galore: Football teams in England hit double figures
When Bournemouth hit Hull for six in the Premier League, we thought we had seen the biggest win of the day.
But then in La Liga, Atletico Madrid went one better by trouncing Granada 7-1.
Yet those results did not even come close to what happened lower down the football pyramid in England, as BBC Sport Twitter followers pointed out:
Northern League Division Two side Northallerton Town asked if hitting double figures by beating Alnwick Town FC 11-1 was the top score of the day? No it was not.
Current United Counties League Division One champions Peterborough Sport FC smashed Kirby Muxloe 12-2, with their player Avelino Vieira scoring five goals in the rout.
The number 13 proved to be a lucky number for Central & South Norfolk league Bridgham United FC on Saturday, as they kept a clean sheet to trounce Rampant Horse in the league cup fixture.
But Rowfant Village of the West Sussex Football League were in scintillating form, beating Horsham Bap & Am Reserves 14-0. A tough afternoon for their goalkeeper.
