Danny Rose is mobbed by Portsmouth team-mate Carl Baker after his spectacular goal against Plymouth

Danny Rose feels Portsmouth made a statement to the rest of League Two with the manner of their performance in a 2-2 draw at leaders Plymouth.

Rose's spectacular late strike made it 2-1 but Connor Smith's 89th-minute goal denied Pompey all three points.

"We've shown our credentials and sent a message to the rest of League Two," midfielder Rose told BBC Radio Solent.

"The last two results we have had away from home have been really positive, especially with the performances."

Rose added: "We stuck to our game plan and started really well. We gave ourselves a platform to go on and win the game.

"We trained really hard this week, harder than some other weeks. We're training a lot harder now like we're playing in games."
