Great news for England .. rooney is out .. might even watch the game now!
For the first time I've given up on England. Didn't bother to watch the Scotland game, and won't bother tomorrow. I really couldn't care less who gets the job next, if changing the manager was the difference, we'd of won the World Cup again by now.
@471 You are correct to an extent and more than entitled to your opinionHowever England could have perfect tactics and play amazing on the day....and still lose to the best teams....Comes down to quality at the end of the day...Scotland could have won the other night if they took their chances
We should expect to give them a decent game though, even if the odds are admittedly against us.Doesn't matter what armchair 'experts' think, any team with backbone and sound tactics can beat any other team on their day.If you disagree with that, what's the point of watching the game? Some folks are just sad, negative and dull for the sake of sounding smart, I suppose.
@469 Spain/GermanyTeams like that with real quality will always wipe the floor with England when it comes to major tournaments....Doesnt matter if Southgate is manager or not....Deluded comes to mind!
To answer the question, no.7 points from 3 games looks ok, but Malta should've been a cricket score and wasn't. Slovenia should have been a comfortable win... Scotland (No disrespect, but they're not very good) made some great chances, but couldn't score.Based on those performances, a Spain or Germany level side would wipe their backsides with us.Nice guy, not England manager.
Had Scotland taken there chances with the early dominance it could have been a very different score....Then people wouldnt have even discussed Southgate....He is a nice fella, works with grace and dignity at all times....so that probably puts him out the running.Sure Scotland would welcome you as manager Gareth! :D
Woy's wecord was wather impwessive. Weally, weally impwessive. Wight up there with Wamsey, Wevie and Gweenwood.
He will never beat Sam Allardyce's 100% record; played 1, won 1, resigned. Keep up the good work matey.
Does he encourage card schools that fleece the younger players? Does he sleep with secretaries and media personalities? Does he tell people how to evade transfer regulations? In some ways he's an upgrade on some of his predecessors.
Will Gareth Southgate be the PL lapdog required ?
A win but another soporifically dreary and totally clueless performance. Does Southgate know what football is and can he teach the team how to play it?The answer to both these questions is clearly no, He definitely should not get the job
Is this Debate still going on,Boring Boring just like the England Team.
460. mark"Southgate is not the answer. What we need is a brilliant, young, fresh, inspirational, and above all ENGLISH manager who will guarantee to bring us home the World Cup in 2018."Maybe Dyche or Howe? "Anyone but Pardew, Howe, Neville, Bruce, Allardyce, Dyche or McClaren - they're all rubbish."Oh right, better get looking abroad then!
