Instant video replays, or retrospective action against culprits, not just for pens but elbows / stamping / dissent is the way. Powers that be scared to change. Remember the Eduardo dive Arsenal v Celtic? 2 game ban over turned. Meanwhile 'smaller' clubs like mine (HCFC) face the backlash a la Snodgrass (YES it WAS a dive) whilst the bigger clubs continue getting away with it.
Deli Alli last week was just as bad as Snodgrass . Why so difficult to end this trend . Like elbows or stamping not spotted by the Ref , examine the footage and deal with it retrospectively. 3 match automatic ban should do the trick, although sadly can't reverse the goal from the score line .
Whats with all the goals?
re 24dunno about defensive frailties.....both teams were petrified of making a tackle in the box in case the ref gave another daft penalty. Where was Tompkins?...even as a centre half he's a better left back than Kelly.
Dreadful defensive frailties, not just here but across the whole damn league. You couldn't improve it if you gave defenders automatic weapons. Quality of refereeing? Somehow even worse.
16 - is on the money. The predictable backlash towards Snodgrass is not surprising, starting with not so whiter than white Mr Dangle Leg Lineker. Dell Alli didn't get this treatment. Neither did Gary Cahill's pathetic attempt at cheating last season against us.One rule for the top 6, one for the rest. Need replays and quick.
At least Palace are scoring - but really do need to sort out the defence. Nonetheless, has made for some exciting games - prefer it to the Pulis days.
ukthrylos, the rule changes in football you are suggesting will not happen any time soon. Not sure either how your rules would be implemented away from top level football (which does exist BTW).
Hull do need quality players up front who have skill & determination, the defence needs intelligent & strong people who can maintain a wall against everything. At present they rely on too few players, (average players, that is!). Get the sale of the club done, get some serious funding in & a manager with proven skill in the premiership.
Phelan is proud of the way his team played - yeah, did you think it was an Olympic diving competition then? Something has to be done retrospectively about the blatant cheating that goes on - the referees are clearly ill equipped or too naive to deal with it at the time. The players (Ali and Snodgrass) clearly have no shame whatsoever in indulging in such dreadful behaviour.
As a Hull fan I do not condone the actions of Snodgrass for our penalty, but what I find very frustrating is why was Dele Ali not lambasted anywhere near as much for the same offence recently. Pundits turning a blind eye when it suits. That aside, great game to watch and well done both teams. Hope both stay up
Both teams really needed a win here today. Not the only teams to be struggling though.Look on the bright side a point is a point, could always be worse, you could be Man City.
Give it two years and instant video replays will not only reverse such penalty decisions but also issue automatic yellow/red cards or perhaps a temporary 15-minute sending off for simulation if such a rule is created.
Tom Daley would be jealous of Snodgrass.
Goal.com have the 10 most infamous divers of all time and Lineker is at number 9 - hypocrite
Good for the neuetrals , I hope both these sides stay up
MarkS, I am glad you take such a great interest in HCFC to know we haven't played well since Phelan got his contract - really. My guess, you haven't watched us play once, except maybe for the odd highlight on MOTD. You look as vulnerable as us, that was illustrated today, you were lucky to get a draw.
Wind your necks in posters 2 and 4. We're 'only' Hull City and you're 'only' crystal palace. Perennial strugglers.
