Earlier this week Rangers agreed to Warburton's agent Dave Lockwood's request to let him go without the Ibrox club demanding compensation if he got a new job, but then Warburton missed out on the manager's post at Nottingham Forest. He offered to stay on at Rangers until the end of the season but the board ended his reign. (Daily Record)

"This is scandalous. I've no idea what they are talking about," says Warburton. "I haven't resigned. I never resigned." (Scotsman)

Englishman Warburton intends to turn up at Auchenhowie today to take Rangers' training session ahead of the Scottish Cup tie against Morton on Sunday, but the club say under 20s coach Graeme Murty will be in interim charge for that. (Sun)
