If Vardy had signed for Man Utd last summer, this article would have been all about him. As it is, he hardly gets a mention.Likewise, if Rooney had come off the bench to score in the 66th minute, as Vardy did, we would never hear the end of it.
504. toffeeblueWhat a stupid comparison. What trophies have England one in 50 years? 0. Arsenal? 13 league titles, 12 FA cups....49 games unbeaten. What's the longest England have gone unbeaten I wonder?Let me help you with your analogy. England are the Tottenham of world football. Zilch trophies over the past 50 years. That's better.
England have become the Arsenal of world football. Usually always qualifies for the finals, but does nothing when they get there. When you're as rich as these players are the incentive to succeed fades.
With no disrespect to Jermain Defoe, but it just shows how far England are off the top flight that he is even in the squad. Two goals against Lithuania was a joke, for Gareth Southgate to say anything else questions his understand of the problems England face.
England at their best are a Tier 2 team. Far behind Tier 1 teams. They will qualify easily from their group without losing a game. Same old will happen in Russia where the most entertaining parts of the campaign will be watching the England thugs, sorry fans, being hospitalised by the Russian thugs. The Russians are training for this now.
I liked the hunger we showed in our non friendly match versus Germany. Everyone knows this qualifying is G-eezy, why people care about how well we play i have no idea. Let's hit the big teams and save our form for when it matters
Bit Like covering Andy Murray beating a player ranked 234th in the world - IrrelevantHad to laugh at Dele Ali clutching the wrong leg when tackled - he is beginning to play act like a cheat.
Why does Glenn Hoddle continue to co-commentate? Gets on me nerves with his constant use of the words ' SPICE' and ' PICE' meaning 'space' and 'pace'.
unbelievably bad performance from England, players walking around the pitch. embarrassing, England will be seriously hammered by a decent side. what is wrong with these players? too much instructions/directions. rashford grabs the ball and shows them how to play. Defoe scored, big deal, its lithuania? these players need a kick up the backside.
The Ox was MOM for me, Walker, Rashford (coming on when the opponents were worn out), and Dier also did well, with Defoe showing what class can do. How did he go to the USA ??
Who cares as long as Northern Ireland qualify, GAWA.
Pleased to see Defoe score but for Glenn Hoddle to make him man of the match was pathetic.I am stunned with decisions that ex-managers and ex-players make when making 'motm' choices during televised games. How could he make that decision when Defoe through no fault of his own had very few touches in the game. Walker,Lallana and Rashford were clearly the 3 players that should have been considered.
Good to be beat the truck drivers in front of their biggest home crowd.
The greatest thing to witness here was humanity: Defoe and Bradley, Defoe scoring. Never mind the WC qualifying and the result, these were heartwarming moments all fans can share.
Good performance I thought by England. Nice to see Defoe get a look in.But more important than the football: please get rid of that awful NOISE following the England team around - that flamin' 'band' for want of another word. It sounds like a badly loaded washing machine. Imagine sitting next to the guy with the drum! PLEASE FA BAN THIS RACKET - IT'S APPALLING, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!!
These teams do not come to play, they are all about damage limitation. Wouldn't have scored if they were still playing now. 3 point,s clean sheet, job done, move on.
