201. Posted by wolf359 'Sunderland had nothing to play for'What rot - playing for SAFC and it's fans is everything! Our Under 23s are in the final of the Premier League International Cup tonight v Porto. Over 20,000 tickets have been snapped upThat's what it means and Moyse will have to bring our kids through
207.209.This is not a disaster of a season, and AW has a v. good record over 20 years. But he is nearing retirement. Something has to be done sooner or later. There is no evidence that this is happening. I think Sanchez will go whatever - his agent will tell him he needs CL football and there will be no shortage of good offers. That means AW will need to rebuild with no CL football to offer.
@209 it's a good point, and to someextent we do forget. After the double in 71, when I jumped on the bandwagon as ten year olds do, we won pretty much Jack for the next 18 years ,barring an FA cup win in 79 , and a League Cup win in, I think 84. In the mid 70,s we would often finish towards mid table.
Average league finish 1950-1996 = 7.08Average league finish 1997-2017 = 2.81 (assumed 5th place finish this season)Don't let me give you the stats pre-1950 or things get even worse. In the grand scheme of things, I think things are going quite well for Arsenal and fans, so careful what you wish for.
To say relegated teams have nothing to play for is a bit silly, the players will want to shine so prem teams will buy them and they won't have to play in the Championship next season. Ask Spurs fans who watched Newcastle/Andros Townsend last season on the last day.
206.Why not address your comments to a revitalised Arsenal team which is the most important issue.HYS is littered with WUM's so best to avoid them.Getting wound up is what they want, therefore starve them of oxygen.Think Arsenal have left their charge for Top 4 too late, but it's been a very good run.Need to keep Sanchez for next season.
78 Tom 1988"Stupid Gooners"? I suggest you read the new BBC terms and conditions as emailed out to today. Flick through to part 9 and you'll quickly learn the BBC can report your behaviour (1) to your employer, (2) your school or (3) the police. Suggest you button your lip if you want to avoid a clip around the ear.Bayern Munich. As compared to Tottenham battered by .. erm. Ghent? WHO?
Anyone want Arsenal to draw 1-1 and Kop to lose 2-0 on the last day of the season to force a super play off? Kop - goals for 75, goals against 42, points 73Arsenal - goals for 74, goals against 43, points 72If its 0-0 or 1-1 after extra time, go to penalty shootout or another play off? lol
Liverpool fans living on past glories and think the Premiership should be given to them at the start of each season, you aren't Celtic you know. Now there is a club that SHOULD be given the title at the start of each season as the SPL is the joke league of Europe with no competition worth mentioning for Celtic.
man u are 6th
@200.Arsenal are based in north London and have not been based in Woolwich, which is in south London for decades.I'm not from London but even I know that.
I'm surprised that Arsenal didn't absolutly destroy Sunderland last night.Sunderland had nothing to play for and could have rolled over, but didn't.2-0 was a poor score against a team that,as admitted by the manager, has been under threat of relegation since day one of the season.Arsenal had the opertunity to do their Goal Difference a world of good last night, they missed the bus on that opertunity.
