Norwich striker Cameron Jerome's strike was ruled out for offside

Norwich City and Bristol City played out a disappointing goalless draw.

The Canaries were wasteful in front of goal with just one of their 15 shots on target at Carrow Road.

Cameron Jerome saw his first-half effort ruled out for offside, while Mario Vrancic hit the post for Daniel Farke's side.

Jamie Paterson's chip was tipped over by Angus Gunn for Bristol City, who have lost just once in nine league games this season.

Goalscoring in the Championship has proved a problem for Norwich this campaign under new boss Farke - the Norfolk side scoring just eight times.

Striker Jerome was a menace throughout, but is still yet to find the back of the net in six league matches in 2017-18.

The hosts dominated the first half, Marco Stiepermann somehow slicing wide from Jerome's ball across the six-yard line and Jerome missing the target on several occasions.

Bristol City held firm after the break as the game fizzled out.

Norwich are now unbeaten in four league games, but sit in mid-table, while Bristol City have not lost since defeat at Birmingham on 12 August.

Norwich head coach Daniel Farke said:

"We didn't give away one clear chance and we created four or five good chances ourselves. There were some that we should have taken.

"I think we totally deserved to win this game but when you don't score obviously the next best thing is a draw.

"That's now five games unbeaten and four clean sheets in a row, which is also pleasing."

Bristol City head coach Lee Johnson said:

"I thought my defenders were outstanding. They were up against a really good side and did their jobs really well to limit them to only one shot on target.

"We also had a few chances ourselves but overall I don't think we troubled them too much. Both sides defended well and, in the end, I think a point each was just about right.

"I am lucky that I can sleep well at night knowing that I have a set of players who will always give their all and carry out their jobs to the best of their ability."
