Nottingham Forest 1-3 Fulham

Aboubakar Kamara
Aboubakar Kamara's first-half strike was his second of the season and his second in two games

Fulham scored two second-half goals as they inflicted a fifth defeat in six league games on a much-improved Nottingham Forest side.

The Reds trailed when Aboubakar Kamara shot home from Ryan Sessegnon's pass.

Forest were deservedly level by the break, Daryl Murphy neatly nodding in a fine Armand Traore cross.

But Stefan Johansen's superb free-kick halted Forest's momentum with less than 20 minutes left and substitute Neeskens Kebano sealed victory late on.

Kebano struck the third away goal after good work by fellow sub Yohan Mollo as last season's play-off finalists Fulham secured just their third league win this season.

The result was tough on a Forest side who looked the more likely to score for large parts of the second half.

Fulham's on-loan Chelsea defender Tomas Kalas cleared off the line from a fierce Kieran Dowell shot after keeper David Button had saved from Jason Cummings.

Murphy almost added to his sixth goal of the season, but was off target with a late right-foot shot with the score at 2-1.

But despite struggling to retain possession and looking nervy in defence, the visitors also had chances with the scores level.

Johansen saw a fine curling effort clip the top of the bar and Kamara also went close, before the Cottagers took control following Johansen's free-kick.

Nottingham Forest manager Mark Warburton: "We have to take our chances. If we score that second goal, this was our game.

"The small margins are really hurting us at the minute. They really, really are. Please take this the right way but it is fine margins that are costing us.

"That is this division and this is a relentless league. There are no excuses. The fans turned out in great numbers and our job has got to be to fill the City Ground. I hope people can see that we are getting there.

"But if you do not take chances and you do not defend your goal, you will pay the price. Daryl has had chances, Jason has had chances and Kieran has had chances - it is about the team, not individuals. But we had numerous chances as a team."

Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic: "It is always important for your confidence to win, particularly when we have just failed to win at home. Winning a game like this will only help.

"We must be satisfied because we head home with three points. We knew it was not going to be easy for us.

"In the first 45 minutes we did not adapt very well in the game; we started in shy fashion. We know Forest are a team who are fighting for the possession of the ball.

"In the second half, we tried to take more risks, to push forward and press them harder and we scored two more goals as well as hitting the post twice. I must be satisfied with the result, but I am also happy with our second-half performance."
