Eastleigh 2-2 Chester

Eastleigh repair troubled section of Silverlake Stadium pitch
The original Eastleigh-Chester game on 30 September was called off at late notice because of a drainage problem at the Silverlake Stadium

National League strugglers Chester came back from two goals down at Eastleigh to claim only their second away point since boss Marcus Bignot took over.

Ben Williamson scored from 18 yards - his eighth goal of the season - to put the hosts ahead in only the second minute.

Ross Hannah was close to getting one back immediately, only to have his effort cleared off the line by Callum Howe.

And it looked ominous for Bignot's side when former million pound striker Gary McSheffrey doubled Eastleigh's lead on 53 minutes - only his second goal for the club.

But seven minutes later, Chester pulled one back when Kingsley James cut the ball back for James Akintunde to net his third goal of the season.

And, although home keeper Ross Flitney produced a great save to keep out Ryan Astles, the big Chester defender then headed home Lucas Dawson's last-minute corner to level.#

Chester recalled Conor Mitchell in goal, with midweek signing Nathan Vaughan on the bench.

Victory for Chester would have lifted them out of the drop zone, but they stay 22nd, level on points with Barrow, while Eastleigh are seven points higher in 16th.

The original Eastleigh-Chester game was postponed on 30 September after a wet Silverlake Stadium pitch was deemed by match officials as "unfit for play" - just two and a quarter hours before kick-off.
