Cody Cooke: Truro City forward pleased to have recovered goalscoring form

Cody Cooke was sent off in Saturday's win over Hungerford Town and is facing a three-game ban if the club are unable to overturn the decision.

Truro City striker Cody Cooke says he is relieved to have recovered his goalscoring form.

The 24-year-old scored as City drew 1-1 at fellow National League South high-fliers Braintree Town on Tuesday - his ninth goal of the campaign.

"I went through a bit of a dry patch, nine games I didn't score for," Cooke told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"To get back on the scoresheet in the last couple of weeks has been pleasing."

Cooke, who has appealed against his red card against Hungerford at the weekend, says he is getting used to the pressure of being the main goal threat having moved up front this season after spending his time in midfield.

"I'd not been in the position where you're expected to score every week, being a midfielder previously it's been a bonus if I have scored," he said.

"Now the pressure's on really and I've got to keep putting the ball in the back of the net.

"Nine goals is pleasing in 18 league games, one in every two games is a good stat, so I'm pleased with how everything's going."
