Burton Albion club captain Shaun Barker has signed a contract extension until the end of the season.

The 35-year-old defender has not played a first-team game this season but boss Nigel Clough has said he is a vital part of the Championship side's squad.

Barker made five substitute appearances last term as Burton avoided relegation.

"I'm delighted. I haven't been involved as much as I was last year, but I've been training more and I've been more involved with the club," Barker said.

After being sidelined for more than four years with injury, Barker was released by Derby and joined the Brewers in August 2016.
