as i said @48 now maybe Hughes will be less baffled now.
Maybe the last manager was completely clueless
The last manager got the players believing this too (it was excruciating to hear in interviews) . Now Hughes is cultivating the the exact same mindset.
Southamptons' league position is not surprising, considering they sell their best players to Liverpool.
@52 bunnerI think that accolade goes to Lawrie mcmenemy.
The board should have grovelled and got Koeman back - our best ever manager
TO 18Billy McNeil managed it with Man City and Aston Villa
It's not baffling at all. It's all down to poor board decisions. Since Koeman left it's been poor management and mad decisions totally demoralising the team. To give a few examples - Fonte, negative tactics, not trying to win games etc
People like Hughes, Moyes, Allardyce and Pardew should never manage a football club. The revolving door policy in the PL of keeping people like them in employment is absurd. They have never won anything and they never will. Time to give new young managers like Eddie Howe a chance to show what they can do ....
Don't you just wish managers would keep these comments to themselves, this has a West Ham win written all over this game now! He will soon find out why they are where they are later today. I am not a supporter of either team but if i was a Saints fan i would be wishing he had not said that until after game at least.
I think Saints will make it out of this relegation battle. There’s such negativity surrounding the Hammers I can only see them heading in one direction. Especially if David can see a way to reduce his tax bill as a result of relegation.BBC, why no HYS on this tax dodging crusty?! I pay my taxes and my licence fee (also known as, Man Utd Fanzine subscription) but get no opportunity to comment?!
He's saying he can't believe where Southampton are because they've consistently finished in the top half of the league the last few years. The Saints were second at the start of the 2014/15 league for months. To be in the relegation zone now is ridiculous, Saints are an established PL club.Just think about it a bit more before you start slamming Hughes with your comments.
We've got a real 'brains trust' of genius managers scrapping it out at the bottom. Hughes, Pardew, Moyes and Lambert. A fearsome foursome. At least one will escape relegation! Amazing!
I'm not Hughes's greatest fan but this might work for both parties. He enjoyed some success at Stoke before this season when his transfers failed to deliver. I just have a feeling this could be his club. It remains to be seen. He's actually a very intelligent guy in spite of the vitriol on here. Good luck Saints you deserve to stay in the Prem IMO
Southampton will start moving up the league - keep faith
"You can see Hughes' full interview on BBC One on Saturday from 12:00 BST."Can hardly wait.
Unbelievable that a team in 18th could recruit the man who led another team to 19th.I wonder if Stoke's players felt he gave them ' confidence and direction'
