Derby don't deserve a good manager, unless they are top of the league any manager gets vile abuse. Derby think they have a god given right to be in the prem. I think he'll do a good job at Stoke, their fans won't be calling for his blood after 1 loss. He clearly thinks Stoke have a better chance of going up and he won't have to take constant shit, like he did at Derby.
@265 EVOIt's actually that it's best for both clubs. Rowett is as many said, Pulis-esque when it comes to style. Stoke will love him.Derby though, like West Ham and others, obsessed with more than just success but doing it what they perceive to be 'the right way'. Rowett dumped good players to make way for route-1 veterans, it didn't work and the fans were turning, he'd have been out by Oct.
Can't see past Stoke re teams for promotion next season. Butland and Shaqiri will no doubt move on and a few others but they will be the team with money and a chairman who has done it before and will be able to blow most of the league out of the water when it comes to signings. Rowett jumped and can't blame him, some Derby fans need a reality check, it isn't 1974
I never knew they were so bitter in Derby, all this bile tells me one thing.....they didn't want him to leave and are majorly annoyed he has. Only time will tell if he's the right man for us.
Good riddance he fluked Derby into the playoffs and had a lucky run. Best get rid of unloyal staff.
Very disappointed in Rowett, thought he was better than that. Sold all our best young players and brought in a bunch of old men. Now there's no money to spend he's off to Stoke and left us in a mess.
Not impressed by Rowett. He didn't change tactics for the second game against Fulham and we were completely outplayed for the second time. Not the sign of a good manager.
@244 DTYou can’t claim Dovedale mate.....the River Dove marks the border so it’s half ours 😂😂. As for Rowett, I’ve never seen so much drivel for football in the last 3 months. I was wondering if we could afford the compensation to sack him and then Stoke turn up. Best of luck there! Worst football I’ve seen since Nigel Cloughs rein.....but at least he had an excuse!
As a DCFC supporter for over 70 years I think I have seen most of it if not all and the latest saga with the club is par for the course. These shenanigans are nothing new, The only thing that stands out in all those years were the golden ones of Brian Clough and Peter Taylor. These two used to go out and buy the player they wanted and then told the Chairman afterwards. Happy days
I don't think that Stoke fans realise what is in store for them with Rowett.Pulis without the baseball cap,I'm afraid. When we played Fulham in the playoffs,it was embarrassing.Derby basically tried to defend a one goal lead for two and a half hours. You have been warned.
@ 248 When Rowett took over Burton, it definitely wasn't on the back of previous managers. Burton were nearly relegated from L2 and were doing badly when he was promoted from assistant manager. Then he turned it around and did most of the work to get them into league 1 when JFH took over.
Stoke is the back door to the slum that is the West Midlands.
Stoke City the potters will still finish in midtable at best
Hope all the Derby lads have got their rubber sheets in place, seems to be a lot of bedwetting going on in those parts. Pity Rowett didn't make the move in January, all the salt coming from Derby would have kept the A50 clear for the rest of the winter.
Completely under whelmed by this appointment, board really making a statement of intent...............settled for mid table !!
@230Hughes I believe is a very good manager, but awful in the transfer market. His record almost everywhere is poor, and falling out with Arnautovic was fatal for Stoke. Imbula - 20+m now out on loanBojan - out on loanJese - terminated agreementWimmer - direChoupo-Moting - known in Bundesliga as hard-working, low-scoringAffelay - known everywhere as trouble
@247 I am happy to be corrected! I only saw Derby play once last season and they played pretty well (although that was probably because my team made them look extremely good!). The football on the whole may not be appealing to watch but you could argue that Rowett like Big Sam does get some results? In Rowett's case, finishing in the play-offs but I can understand the concerns about Rowett
As a Derby fan, I think that Rowett's obvious ambition and Stokes resources are a good fit. However, he still has a lot to learn, and is a little too cocky...which is why they probably gave him the boot at Birmingham and Derby were having second thoughts.
