Chelsea edged out rivals Arsenal in a five-goal thriller at Stamford Bridge, Harry Kane ended his August goal drought as Tottenham beat Fulham 3-1, while there were also wins for Leicester, Everton and Bournemouth.
Unai Emery's Arsenal fought back from two goals down as Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Alex Iwobi cancelled out strikes from Pedro and Alvaro Morata before half-time, but Marcos Alonso met substitute Eden Hazard's cross on 81 minutes to give Maurizio Sarri a winning home debut as manager.
At Wembley Stadium, Lucas Moura's opener for Tottenham just before half-time was cancelled out by Aleksandar Mitrovic, who headed in Fulham's first goal back in the top-flight to equalise.
However a stunning free-kick from Kieran Trippier, reminiscent of his goal for England in the World Cup, and a third from Kane, who had not previously scored a Premier League goal in August in his 14 previous games, secured the win at Wembley.
Richarlison scored his third goal of the season as Everton beat Southampton 2-1, with Theo Walcott also on target as Marco Silva earned his first league win as Toffees boss, while Danny Ings got his first goal for the Saints.
Ten-man Leicester beat Wolves 2-0 with Matt Doherty scoring an own goal and James Maddison scoring his first Premier League goal, while England striker Jamie Vardy was shown a straight red in the 66th minute.
Steve Cook and Callum Wilson scored for Bournemouth, as they came from behind to beat West Ham at the London Stadium, despite Marko Arnautovic's first-half penalty.
In Saturday's early kick-off, Kenedy missed a 96th-minute penalty as 10-man Newcastle drew 0-0 at Cardiff, with both teams picking up their first point of the campaign.
Newcastle substitute Isaac Hayden was sent off 21 minutes after coming on at half-time for a foul on Josh Murphy, while Kenedy was lucky to stay on the pitch after kicking Victor Camarasa in the first-half.

Hilarious.
This season may be a difficult one, but it will take time for Emery and isn't going to be an overnight fix. Hopefully, we can get a better result against West Ham.
It’s all over 5Live and now on’t t’internet as the main headline.
I am not astonished by it 🤔
21 Foreign players start in the Chelski game.
Foreign managers will always sign foreign players, and before long England teams will be selected from the Championship because the foreign Premier League managers have made it so.
If, as a PL supporter, you are happy with that, then good luck to you.
Stronger rules are needed.
It should be compulsory for each team to start games with at least 3 English players.
I love the way BBC refer to the English Premier League. How many 'English' players did Arsenal and Chelsea field??
Sadly our game and league is now basically owned, run by foreigners and populated by foreign players. To call it English is delusional.
Game over after 20 minutes
They are wearing ‘visit Rwanda’ armbands
Why?
Rwanda is a war zone with lots of land mines
I think they need to visit the training ground instead and practice on the basics
Mr Emery is their manager
Remember Dick Emery
Arsenal today......
Ooh you are awful
Give it a rest, look at football in the 80's and most of it was dreadful and then we had lots of British players
