Top clubs don't want British players - Tammy Abraham of Chelsea going on loan to Villa is typical. Top PL teams with overseas owners are interested in the 'finished article'. Anyone supporting a Premiership teams should either support his comments or complain about the number of overseas players in their own team. I hope Brexit means all overseas players are chucked out, the sooner the better!
Thanks Gareth!First you tell Alfie Mawson, probably our most valuable playing asset, that he has to be playing in the PL to be considered for England. He then leaves for Fulham in a cut-price deal, as Swansea couldn’t stand in his way. Then you say that you will consider Championship players.Lovely.
Doesn't La Liga have restrictions on foreign (non-EU) players? How do they manage it and not the PL?
Brexit will / should give the FA more legal powers. If they don't want to do this for the good of the game, they need to disassociate themselves from the PL and put more resources, effort into the leagues it does act as a governing body - that being the EFL. Already more foreign 'talent' is filtering down into the Championship and will only go the same way leaving L1 & L2 players for the pool!
Of course after Brexit the FA could start to impose nationality restrictions. Fans will still go to see their team whether its 2 or 8 Englishmen in team. We could get away from having two top sides playing with barely an Englishman involved.
The more nations that are represented in a PL team, the more countries they can sell their shirts to. Why else would Stoke have signed Senegal's 'finest' - Mame Biram Diouf?!This pleases the Premier League too. Imagine if the FA told them that half of every team had to be English? How is the Premier League going to sell that to the world??Money, money money.
For every world class overseas player in the Premier League there are 50 garbage ones. Christian Benteke, for example.
IT'S SIMPLE FOREIGN MANAGERS, STRANGLE YOUNG ENGLISH TALENT. Instead of taking a chance on an up and coming English lad, Foreign Managers, would sooner pay millions on mediocre Foreign Players. SO WHAT CHANCE, FOR AN ENGLAND VICTORY IN NEXT EURO'S?
You could pick the entire squad from the EFL and they'd qualify for the Euro's in its current format. The whole international thing is becoming a nonsense.
Plain and simple the PL is run by greed, 5 or 6 teams want all the billions in money, they don't care about the rest of the league clubs or the other 14 teams in the league, FIFA is as bent as anyone even after being exposed we still have a world cup in Qatar.Nothing will change until the FA is replaced with new blood not in the pockets of the Premier League.
