Borussia Dortmund 2-2 Hertha Berlin: Jadon Sancho scores as leaders held

England winger Jadon Sancho scored twice but unbeaten Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund were held by Hertha Berlin.

The 18-year-old had already had a backheel goal ruled out for offside when he finished Mario Gotze's pass to give Dortmund the lead.

Salomon Kalou poked home Hertha's equaliser but Sancho put Dortmund ahead again from a clever Marco Reus lay-off.

Kalou scored an injury-time penalty to rescue a point for the visitors.

At 18 years and 216 days, Sancho is the second youngest foreigner to score twice in a German top-flight game. Only Son Heung-min, now at Tottenham, was younger (18 years, 135 days) - in Hamburg's 3-2 defeat at Hannover on 20 November 2010.

He has now scored four times in his past three games and had a hand in a goal every 52 minutes this season - five goals and eight assists.

Dortmund are two points clear at the top of the Bundesliga, with Bayern Munich - champions for the past six years - moving up to second with a 2-1 victory at Mainz.

Leon Goretzka gave Bayern the lead and, after Jean-Paul Boetius' equaliser, Thiago Alcantara scored the visitors' winner from six yards out.

Well done Sancho, unlucky not to get the hat-trick and keep it up lad.

Not sure why we need a HYS on his every game though. Let him develop without the media pressure.

Also prevents the usual first-to-post HYS trolls spouting predictable jibes for any attention.

Amazing what young English players can do when they get a game. Wonder how many Sancho's have been ruined over the years due to Premier League greed?

Hope more follow suit and leave the sub bench behind in favour of some game time.

@14 are you jot interested in the future of English football? The young man is doing great and unlike most of his compatriots he has had the guts to go and try his luck abroad. Fair play to him and all the best from an Ireland and most of all football fan. Great to see a talent being given a chance instead of sitting watching overpaid mercenaries in the PL.

It seems a glittering career is ahead for this boy, well done to him for taking a gamble abroad in a very strong open league, not often City let a player go at the wrong time but they have with Sancho...good luck to him & Dortmund for the rest of season

He’s done well to better himself in a better league. English prem for all it’s ‘glory’ never has any team really capable of challenging for champions league. Great to see the big leagues like german, Spanish and Scottish leagues all thriving this year with intense title races. Man City v Liverpool ‘best game of season’ 0-0 bore draw says it all

Dear Bundesliga,

Please continue to prise our youngsters from our cash bloated league so they no longer have to endure being ‘the next best thing’ sat on the bench for 3 years (19-22) then loaned and eventually sold to a championship club.
