Aaron Doran's header proved decisive as Inverness Caledonian Thistle narrowly beat 10-man Morton to move into fourth place in the Scottish Championship.

The visitors went in front Tom Walsh netted his eighth of the season.

Sean Welsh missed the chance to extend the lead when his penalty hit a post after Kerr Waddell had been sent off for hauling down George Oakley.

Doran's header did eventually put the Highlanders two up before Scott Tiffoney pulled one back for Morton.

Inverness Caledonian Thistle manager John Robertson: "It was a lot tighter than it should've been. We should've been out of sight.

"We've got a couple of trialists coming in. The problem we've got is we can't always get players to come to us because of the wages and sometimes because of the distance."

Morton manager Jonatan Johansson: "It was like kids defending for the sending off but the way we reacted with 10 men was excellent - we caused them all sorts of problems.

"We haven't been starting well at home but I thought we did today, so to lose the goal was disappointing. But the second half with 10 men was excellent and we created at least three or four chances."
