Women's Super League: Reading Women 1-0 Brighton & Hove Albion

Reading's Rachel Furness
Reading midfielder Rachel Furness scored her fourth goal of the season

Reading moved up to fifth in the Women's Super League table with a 1-0 win against Brighton & Hove Albion at a sun-drenched Madjeski Stadium.

Rachel Furness scored the crucial Royals goal, drilling past Marie Hourihan after the Seagulls failed to sufficiently clear a free-kick.

The Royals might have led by half-time, but Millie Farrow did not convert when one on one late in the opening period.

Kirsty Barton's effort which struck the bar was the closest Brighton came.

It was so hot on the field in the second half that the game was stopped to allow players to take on water.

The loss, Brighton's 11th of the campaign, leaves them ninth in the WSL.
