It's funny to read all the hate for the FA when it was the clubs that sold their souls to Murdoch not the FA. The clubs willingly dance to Sky's tune without thought for the fans because they want the money and if the Dutch league - German Italian or Spanish leagues as well - had the TV deal the Premier League does, they'd be doing it too.
159. Posted by Robbo All the other teams in the past have had to make do, why should spurs get special treatment???Hey Robbo, can you tell me the last time a Premier League side played a league game two days before a CL match? Thought not, mug.
As a spurs fan the thing that gets me about this is not the Dutch moving Ajax game, which should be applauded, but that the semi is spurs 4th game in 10 days. Liverpool by contrast play 3 and are playing the Friday before the 1st leg. Spurs and Barca have a much tougher (in terms of minutes) than Liverpool and Ajax and regardless of the teams surely all should get the same chance to prepare.
For the snowflakes Come on ajax, gain victory over that team what prone to Machiavellian antics
Too much tv money in the PL ... they choose who plays where and when .. simple as
What brave decision, as so many have said but worth repeating its great to see the whole nation get behind the team. After beating Real Madrid they must have a lot of confidence. Spurs will need to be on form to get past them.Loos like its set up to be cracker. Just hope there is not t much trouble off the pitch
Can anyone explain why comment no. 5 was downvoted so much?? Did I miss something?
Ask the average English football fan what is more important, the league title or European competition, and the majority will say the domestic title. The Dutch FA decision just reflects the importance they and Dutch public give to European competition. Maybe a bit like Brexit. Alot of British see Europe as irrelevant.
Reminds me of Manchester United in 1958 when the FA refused them time off to play a match in Germany.
Clearly we should try to do something to help Spurs. Perhaps we could let them move to a new stadium half way through the season. Perhaps we could let them change the name of the underground station at tax-payers expense, so they can make mega millions out of a ground naming deal. Oh we have, well that's okay then.
All sport in the UK is now coverned by the television conglomerates. When did anyone hear a sports presenter say that a game was poor. They are not allowed to say it. The rules are also determined by the TV Companies i.e. VAR. At one time the referees and umpires decision was final and accepted by all participants. Not now with instant replays we must have decisions by TV. A sad day for sport.
This comment was removed because it broke the house rules. Explain
Great decision by the Dutch FA but, alas, no chance of the FA here following suit because Sky dictate the terms and call the shots, and Sky cares nothing for the welfare of players or the good of the game. For Sky, football is "just another game," rather than the national sport, so Spurs will have to play West Ham the weekend before the Ajax game because ... Sky says so ..
Total class by the Dutch federation and rival clubs giving every help to Ajax , could never see this happening in Premier or Football League were the Sky/Bt deal is more important .. and the lining of people like Scudamore pockets
