Outrageous celtic bias, how many fines have they had now ? but still no real action taken against them. Their away support is like a zombie plague .
@134 Sliema is calling out both sides, so not sure what agenda you think they have, whereby you are the one who seems to have the agenda by citing only one club....which is symptomatic of the problem as the protagonists deny responsibility by hiding behind whataboutery....
I'm no fan of Doncaster, and I really CBA with all the sectarian nonsense in our game, but I'm still waiting for someone to tell me where in the world Strict Liability has worked?
@121 Sliema, I note you mention Clarke and Macinnes abuse, but fail to mention the person who gets the most sectarian abuse of all, Neil Lennon, and not just in Glasgow, but then again that would probably not suit your agenda!!Doncaster will never let this happen as his beloved Sevco would be bust again for consistent fines due to sectarian chanting, flares and pitch incursions!!
Too many supporters of some Scottish clubs see stadiums here as safe places for them to air sectarian views which would attract police interest in any other environment; some ‘fans’ even travel from other countries to games in Scotland to do something they can’t get away with at home. If clubs are serious about change they must target all of these easily identifiable individuals. No more anonymity
#130 A pub won't be fined for selling drink to someone that commits a crime later, but a pub will lose it's licence if it allows it's customers to repeatedly behave inappropriately. So yes, clubs should be held accountable for it's customers actions on their premises. Doncaster is a mouthpiece for businesses who refuse to take action against anti social customers because it will cost them money.
We are not talking about individuals misbehaving. We are talking about thousands shaming Scotland with their "Community Singing",offensive banners, vandalism, pyrotechnics, assaults, sectarianism, and the like. The clubs responsible for this are well able to pay fines.Deducting points, shutting a Stand, closing a Stadium at the next match, and reversing a score would tackle this effectively.
There's nothing to see here. If a fan misbehaves there are enough laws for police and stewards to remove them. Why do people want to punish cash strapped clubs for something they can't control. Leave football fans alone and go and chase real criminals. We don't fine a pub for selling drink to someone who later commits a crime. It's a ridiculous idea and nobody who follows football should want it.
We currently have Doncaster and don't have strict liability. What about having strict liability and no Doncaster?
@119 how ignorant are you? please explain how rangers are finished???sectarian chants come from almost ALL supporters, incidents involving fans attacking players or throwing things has happened several times outside the old firm too, there has been racist shouting from celtic and hibs and hearts too
Do the supporters of opposing sides in any other sport have to be PHYSICALLY SEPARATED ??????????????????????????????????????OR IS IT JUST football ?????and do the football clubs PAY for the police attendance ??????I SURE AS HELL HOPE SO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Neil Doncaster is the man who said the Irn Bru Cup was popular among the fans. The average Gate last season was 660 as we watched much needed Scottish Football income haemorrhage outwith Scotland. The tournament with its many names over the years was designed for League 1 and 2 clubs to win a National Trophy like Stenhousemuir in 1995.The Championship resent it.
Cant believe Neil Donkey-disaster has been allowed for so long to run our game into the gutter. Everything he utters is complete codswollop.Away teams will stop selling tickets to their fans - based on what?Remove club fines? So clubs will continue to tackle bad fan behaviour once you take away the only incentive for doing so? Yeah right! This man is in charge of our National game!
Each morning on BBC Radio Scotland Gary Robertson eats Politicians for breakfast yet the Scottish Football Authorities shirk interviews on SL.Michael Stewart,Steven Thomson,Jonathan Sutherland,Willie Miller,Richard Gordon etc have condemned sectarianism but it is a News programme which needs to focus on the abysmal failure to tackle this blight.STV News has managed to.
@117. tup1903 God you do go on with your conspiracy theory the 'Glasgow Clubs' clandestine control of all things Scottish football. Give it a rest will you? You are way past 'flogging a dead donkey' with this nonsense.Doncaster is a dumpty plain and simple.
The fines need to be greatly increased but don't agree with point deduction.Introduce that and Mason Boyne will be running about the park wi' a flare wearin' a Cellic scarf! They need to do somethin' to stop the double nine you know
What an ignorant comment by Neil Doncaster,He should tell Steve Clarke or Derek McInnes they were the victims of" a tiny minority".The whole of UEFA has Strict Liability which has been a huge success. .If a club lost points, had a hefty fine,a stand or stadium closed,or a score reversed; they would move quickly to tackle the sectarian bile which shames Scotland.
