Real Madrid have signed striker Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt for an undisclosed fee, subject to a medical.

The 21-year-old Serbia international has agreed a six-year deal with Zinedine Zidane's side.

Jovic only joined Eintracht on a permanent deal in April, when they activated a clause following a two-year loan spell from Benfica.

The forward - who has four caps for Serbia - scored 27 goals in 48 games for the German club this season.

He was also named in Uefa's Europa League squad of the season after scoring 10 goals on their run to the semi-finals, where they lost on penalties to eventual winners Chelsea.

While both clubs have decided to keep the fee secret, it is widely reported to be in excess of £50m.external-link

Frankfurt are thought to have paid about £6.2m (7m euros) for him in April.

    Barcelona, fantastic club, Madrid putrid outfit, Sir Alex, once said, "I wouldn't sell that lot a virus" . The love child of general Franco, yes the first five years, they "won" the European cup, twice against amatures of rhiems, when nobody else bothered to even enter, in my mind, they have won it 8 times. Destabilise the oppositions best players, then get them on the cheap. Underhand outfit.

    I suspect there'll be a bit more care about the clauses in contracts which led to those huge profits for Frankfurt!

    Fair play to the guy for wanting to sign for the most corrupt football club in Europe. He could score 200 goals for them and win several trophies but as soon as he has one bad game the fans will turn on him.

    Why players want to sign for Real Madrid other than money I have no idea.

    So boring - any club has a good year and the so called "top clubs" just buy up their players....Monaco, Leicester, Southampton, Dortmund, Lyon, Frankfurt, Porto, Ajax etc... doesn't make for much of a competitive sporting universe. Football has so much greed that it will go the way of F1 (Mercedes/Red Bull/ Ferrari and the rest) with a super elite of 12 clubs carving everything up between them.

    Great signing. Won't change Real too much, they have bigger problems but if they get a world class midfielder, and competent centre back and right back, they'll be dangerous again. Hazard, Koulibaly, Dumfries at PSV (awesome right back)

    I just hope no English team is stupid enough to fund Jovics purchase by wasting their money on Bale. Don't strengthen a European rival by buying cast offs.

    Madrid are toast. They won those Champion's Leagues largely by the force of will of Ronaldo and Ramos. The league form is more indicative of their true ability. Ronaldo has gone and even if they get Hazard, I just don't see him dragging the team to great achievements. Pogba is another player who is not a leader.

    Once Messi retires I expect some rough times for Spanish teams.

    Why would any decent player with morals and standards go to a club like Real Madrid who are in decline, treats their players like crap when they make one or two mistakes here and there and have the vilest of fans in the world. Unless it’s for the weather of course.
