Women's Super League: Arsenal 1-0 Liverpool - Miedema seals victory

Vivianne Miedema scores for Arsenal
Arsenal were not at their best but Vivianne Miedema's fourth WSL goal this season proved enough

Arsenal stayed third with a comfortable victory over bottom side Liverpool - who are still to score from open play in the Women's Super League this term.

Last season's champions struggled early on, needing goalkeeper Manuela Zinsberger to tip Sophie Bradley-Auckland's header against the post.

But the hosts led when Jill Roord found Vivianne Miedema, who drilled past Anke Preuss clinically from 15 yards.

Leah Williamson later hit the bar while Liverpool offered little going forward.

Danielle van de Donk and Beth Mead spurned good chances in the box for Arsenal, who may rue not winning by a wider margin with goal difference a potential decider in this year's title race.
